Özet

Bir milletin dilini zenginleştiren deyimlerin oluşumu ve anlamlarını etkileyen etmenlerin başında kuşkusuz o milletin kültürel varlığı gelmektedir. Her toplum kendi kimliğini dil malzemesiyle ifade ederken kimi zaman bu kalıplaşmış ifadeler farklı bir yapıya bürünerek veya tercüme edilerek diğer toplumların yazı ve konuşma diline de dâhil olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Farsçada pâ-süvâr, süvâr-pâ, süvâr-pây, süvâr-ı pâ, süvâr-ı pây vb. şekillerde kullanılan söyleyiş biçiminin Türkçeye tercüme edilmiş biçimi olması muhtemel görünen “ayağa binmek” deyimi ele alınarak, binlerce yıllık bir geçmişe sahip olan kadeh anlamındaki ayak kelimesinin kökeni, arkeolojik kazılar neticesinde elde edilen bulgulardan hareketle Antik Yunan, Sümerler, Lidyalılar, Urartular, Asurlar, Hititler ve Sasaniler gibi pek çok millette mevcut olan ayak, ayakkabı, çizme şeklinde içki-sunu kaplarının ritüel yönü, bunun Klasik Türk şiirine yansımaları ile deyimin edebî metinlerdeki anlam çerçevesi incelenmiştir.

Abstract

One of the main factors that affect the formation and the meanings of the idioms that enrich the language of a nation is undoubtedly the cultural existence of that nation. While every society expresses its identity with its language material, sometimes these stereotyped expressions are transformed into a different structure or translated, and thus included into the writing and speaking language of other societies. In this study, the roots of the word feet, which has a history of thousands of years, and has the meaning of wineglass, and the ritual aspect of the feet, shoe, drink cups in the shape of a boot which, according to findings of the archaeological excavations, exists in Ancient Greek, Sumerians, Lydians, Urartians, Assyrians, Hittites and Sassanians, its reflection on the Classical Turkish poetry, together with the framework of the meaning of the idioms in the literary texts have been examined, by addressing the idiom “get on a foot”, which is likely to be translated into Turkish from its Persian counterpart pâ-süvâr, süvâr-pâ, süvâr-pây, süvâr-ı pâ, süvâr-ı pây and so on.
